Walnut Hills High School is nationally recognized as one of America's top public high schools. Upon graduation our students are accepted to the finest universities and colleges in America.
Walnut Hills offers:
- An advanced, accelerated curriculum for six grade levels.
- A rigorous classical program requiring three years of Latin for incoming 7th and 8th graders.
- An Honors Program and Advanced Placement Program with more courses than any other school in the nation.
- Outstanding fine arts programs and AP art studio and music theory classes.
- A culturally and ethnically diverse student body with students from every urban neighborhood in Cincinnati, Amberley Village, Cheviot, Silverton, Golf Manor and Green Township. (39% minority of which 32% are African-American; 1,850 student population comprised of 56% females and 44% males.)
- Superbly trained faculty with 92% holding master's degrees, equivalent or above. There are five nationally board certified teachers and a National Teacher of the Year.
- Enthusiastic parent and alumni organizations that volunteer time and contribute over 3/4 million dollars a year.
- A state-of-the-art twelve million dollar Arts and Science Center.
Walnut Hills students:
- Over 95% are enrolled in four-year colleges or universities. (See where they're attending.)
- 13 National Merit Semi-Finalists, 16 Commended students, 5 National Achievement Scholars for 2003.
- 43 Cum Laude Initiates in 2002-2003.
- 86% scored three or higher on the 874 College Board Advanced Placement exams given.
- Pass all parts of the Ohio Proficiency Test
- Score in the highest percentage on the Ohio Tests of Scholastic Achievement.
- Score at the 95 percentile or above on National Achievement Tests.
- Participate in science and foreign language competitions, National Mathematics Examination, and Harvard Model United Nations.
- Participate in a minimum of six dramatic and musical productions, six instrumental and two vocal concerts, an award-winning marching band, as well as 51 competitive sports teams and over 50 extracurricular activities from Art Club to Youth in Government.
- One of six schools nationally whose orchestra was chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2000.
- Score above the national mean on the SAT and ACT. (WHHS SAT mean 1152; National SAT mean 1020, WHHS ACT mean 24.7; National mean 21.)
