Class of 1985 Class of 1990 Class of 2000 2010 REUNION PLANNING UNDERWAY... Class of 1998 Alum traveled from all across the country to attend their first class reunion. The first stop for 1998 classmates was to check--in for their WHHS update and school tour Saturday morning. This lively crowd took to the halls in search of their favorite hang-outs, lockers, classrooms and of course to "check out" the library. Later that evening, classmates enjoyed a beautiful evening at the Ridge Club. A barbeque dinner served out on the lawn was a perfect choice for this fabulous summer evening. As the sun went down the dance music cranked up as this party got started. If you couldn't make it... be sure to connect on the Class of 1998 Facebook page, where the reunion is going strong. Class of 1988 The festivities began Friday at Jasper's Night Club. Classmates bridged the years with conversation, appetizers and dancing. It was a perfect fall evening to rekindle friendships. Bright and early Saturday morning, the halls of WHHS came alive with voices from the past. Alumni roamed the halls to show family where they received their top notch education and learned the ways of the world. The Contemporary Arts Center served as backdrop for a spectacular evening of alumni fun. A great turnout, good food and entertainment capped off the weekend in style. Class of 1978 Jenny Ostendorf started the ball rolling and with the support of a large and enthusiastic committee this reunion extravaganza came together. And this class has connections... current WHHS Principal and '78 classmate, Jeff Brokamp offered up the school as the perfect spot to start this party. Alum, family and friends converged on WHHS for school tours, updates and to enjoy the famous BBQ of Kenny Tessel '76 (Ken was famous even before BarbieQ!) After the kids are tucked in... the bash continued in O'Bryonville. Rumor has it, Saturday night, the Kenwood Country Club was the place to be... as classmates ate, danced and partied well into the night morning. We are pleased to announce, that with your generous support, we have raised $13,721 for the for the 1978 Class Gift, to be used for ongoing program support, such as the College Information Center, Tutoring Programs, Writing Resource Center and other important educational-related needs. Sursum Ad Summum, Class of 1958 Three events were planned to span the spectrum from "janing" in the main hall, to an informal party at the Westin Hotel, and a lovely dinner celebration Saturday evening at the Netherland Hotel. We sang songs we haven't thought about in years but remembered instantly. Several classmates presented the WHHS library with copies of books they authored. We came to celebrate our memories, catch up on what we are doing now, and look to the future as an educated, caring, productive group of friends. We pulled out all the stops because we came to share our spirit! As is tradition, the 50th reunion classes make a class gift. We wanted to take this time to give back to the institution that gave so much to us. Dave Schiering kindly chaired this project to great success. The Class of 1958 raised $XXXXXX.XX to totally renovate the Graphic Design lab in the Art Department. New MAC computers and printers were purchased. As a result of our class gift, a new Digital Imaging class has been added to the 2009-10 curriculum. We are proud our purchases will enhance the daily quality of life for many current and future Walnut Hills students. Congratulation members of the WHHS Class of 1958 Loyally, The WHHS Class of 1944, Stimulus Package Reunion! Friday morning, the first class coach pulled out of Blair Circle destined for the Toyota Plant Tram Tour. The transportation, provided by a generous classmate, allowed these spry classmates a luxury journey to Georgetown, KY for the noon tour. A tram transported classmates around the huge plant. The guided tour pointed out various departments where raw materials are processed through a modern assembly line to the finished car. Many robots are used for efficiency and quality, as well as driverless trains to deliver sub-assemblies to installers. Toyota uses a minimum of 70% American content in every car, and has a work force of over 95% Americans, mostly from the Blue Grass State. We recommend this plant tour to all our alumni friends. The next stop was lunch on the campus of Georgetown College. It was a stimulating full day by the time they returned to WHHS. Saturday evening, classmates assembled for the WHHS Class of 1944 Reunion Dinner. Embers Gourmet Restaurant was the perfect setting to spark conversation, an address by class president Rabbi Jack Stern, and comments by many. Principal Jeff Brokamp '78 was in attendance and delivered an inspiring update of the school's continued progress and growth... Many of us wondered if we could handle the current high standards of our alma mater! It was a cherished evening made possible by a dedicated reunion committee. As in many previous reunions, hats were tipped to Fran Ahlering Browne who led the committee to pull off a perfect reunion. We look forward to the next one, 70th, Wow! Class of 1979
On Saturday June 16, 2007 classmates from the WHHS Class of 55 gathered at The Ridge Club to collectively celebrate their 70th birthday. It was a beautiful evening on the lawn filled with friendship and singing and of course they had their cake and ate it too! Classes of 1967 and 1977 The Class of 1977 was equally spirited as they gathered to celebrate their 30 year reunion. What better way to start the festivities than a gathering at Skyline Chili Friday evening! So many attended, Skyline ran out of food! The '77 classmates poured in the halls of WHHS for their Saturday A.M. school tour. Marcia Scacchetti put together a wonderful Saturday evening event at The Ridge Club to cap off the reunion. A barbeque on the lawn was the perfect setting for classmates to mingle and reconnect on this beautiful summer evening. Class of 1987 Class of 1957 Class of '47 Octogenarians WHHS's stellar 1947 class celebrated their personal age milestone with a June weekend bash. A school lunch, Arts and Science Wing tour, and an inspiring talk by Debbie Heldman kicked off the affair - not the kind you're dreaming about! A serene boat ride on the Beautiful Ohio followed, where some of the classmates dozed. On Sunday, a gala dinner at Kenwood Country Club was opened with a prayer by Deacon Jack Rose. A delicious meal, selected by Eileen Durbin and Marcia Winborne, was consumed by the clean plate club. Everyone enjoyed an interview of all present by attorney Pete Tobias. Dancing was at a minimum, but hugs and kisses were abundant with no sexual harassment charges filed! Actually, the class was overheard crying, "More, more!" Thankfully, the financial contribution books balanced according to class agent Millard Mack, and without stimulus funds! In view of the class' mature ages, the next B'day will be at age 81 and 1/2. Class of 1997As is tradition, our young alum gathered over Thanksgiving Weekend, to celebrate their days at WHHS. Classmates from the class of 1997 gathered at the Oakley Theater Friday, November 23, 2007 for an evening of dining, dancing and digital memories. Michael Scruggs and the '97 reunion committee were 'on it' when it came to motivating classmates. Their hard work paid off with 135 classmates in attendance. A visit to tour WHHS can around early Saturday morning, as classmates appreciated the new building and came alive as they walked the old haunts. |
