Principal's Perspective

Spring break already seems long past as we are steeped in the fourth quarter activities leading to graduation. The senior class was honored by having fifty of its top students inducted into the Cum Laude Society on April 10th. Salutatorian Daniel J. Cissell was the speaker at the banquet. Valedictorian Leah K. Finney will be the speaker for commencement at the Cintas Center on May 30th. The senior reception and awards evening will be held the Tuesday before graduation.

The school year is moving along swiftly with music concerts, Shakespeare plays, spring sport contests, opera productions, A. P. exams, proms and interesting classroom activities taking place as scheduled. Nearly four hundred new students have registered for the next school year which will begin August 20th, a week earlier than most CPS schools. This earlier starting date enables the fall semester finals to be concluded before the winter break begins December 23rd. Walnut Hills students will begin their second semester on Tuesday, January 7th. Students, parents and teachers are anticipating these changes as a very positive change in the school calendar for 2002-03.
